I think we can all agree that we are in a very unique time in history. With the release of the coronavirus, and people being asked to practice social distancing, life as we once knew it has drastically changed. People are saying, “I can’t wait for this to get back to normal.” The reality…it will never get back to “normal.” And in all honesty, that is probably a good thing since “normal” is what got us into this mess in the first place.
Finding Your Purpose in the Chaos
The truth is, God allowed this to happen. Like in the book of Job, God allowed Satan to mess with Job…but God set strict boundaries as to how far Satan could go. In the book of Jeremiah 29:4, it says that God carried His people into exile; which He did because they were walking in sin and drifting far from God. God uses these times of trial to draw us back to Him and strengthen our relationship with Him. Even in this chaos, people are spending more time with their families, getting more exercise, and many are evaluating their lives, what they have been doing, and where to go from here.
When I was on my morning run, God was speaking so clearly about understanding who we are in Christ and stepping into our place of influence. He is aligning us for the battle; one that He will fight for us, but we need to be in alignment. Part of this alignment is walking in your Kingdom purpose. If God designed you to be on the spiritual mountain of business, but you are not starting the business He is calling you to start; you are out of alignment. If you are designed to have influence in government, but you are avoiding the campaign He is asking you to run; you are out of alignment.
God is calling His children to get into place so we can introduce others to Him through His Son, Jesus Christ. The Bible tells us in John 12 that when Jesus is lifted up, or exalted, He will draw all men unto Him.
Question is, are you positioned to lift Him up? Here are 3 ways to gain clarity on your purpose.
Understanding Your Purpose
Be Still and Cut Out the Noise
I will admit, this can sometimes be difficult; but when you are still it is so much easier to hear the still small voice of God. Cutting out the noise includes not asking your friends or family for their opinions on what you are doing until after you speak with God. Turning off the news. Putting on some instrumental worship music. Putting your phone on “Do Not Disturb.” Just slowing down and taking a deep breath.
Approach Prayer as a Two-way Conversation
As you quiet yourself and go to God in prayer, approach it as a two way conversation. Give the conversation time to develop and flow. Ask for wisdom…He will give it. (James 1:5) Ask for guidance, and He will direct your path. (Proverbs 3:5-6) Accept what He has to say, and you will be fruitful in life. (John 15:5)
Embrace the Uniqueness that God Has Placed in You
There is something about human nature that drives many of us to compare and want to be like someone else. The reality is God specifically designed each one of us with the abilities, skills, traits, and temperament to be the Kingdom Influencer He has planned for us to be. (Ephesians 2:10) If there is that one part about that you don’t like, make a conscious choice to accept it. Embrace it. Love it. It might be the exact thing that God will use to help you complete your assignment.
Stepping into Your Purpose
So, are you ready to step into your purpose and walk out the Kingdom Influencer assignment God has for you? Don’t be in a rush, but be intentional in your time with God. God will open doors for you once you understand the people you are supposed to reach. How you share our message will be unique. Some will write books while others will do videos. Some will be called to speak to thousands of people at a time while others will be charged to have one-on-one tea parties in their home. God will use all of these interactions to allow His children to experience heaven on earth.
It is time to get Kingdom focused, step into your purpose, and walk boldly into our new normal!
