Face your Fear through Writing

We are in a very unique time in world history. It is like this little fuzzy gray ball with red triangles on it is telling us, “face your fear!” The worldwide pandemic of COVID-19 has brought with it a plethora of emotions, feelings, and reactions. I have people dear to me that are high up in the “high risk category.” I have people close to me who have had to cancel or postpone major events or trips. I also know people who are first responders and have had to step up to the plate to help serve the people who are battling this vicious virus. And we all have been asked to greatly modify our lives, behaviors, and routines. 

The reality is, everything that we see in the natural world is tied to what is happening in the spiritual realm. So the virus is what we see, well not that we can actually SEE it with the naked eye, but that is what is happening in the physical world – but the panic, anxiety, terror, fear, and uncertainty…that is the attack that is happening in the spiritual world. 

The Good News – There is Power In Your Words

In these times of confusion and chaos, you have a choice on what you believe and what you speak…and that will have a BIG impact not only on you and your own personal life, but on those around you.

Your words are so powerful
that they will kill or give life,
and the talkative person will reap the consequences.

 

But the question comes in, how do you watch your words, and keep your mind when there is so much craziness going on around you? Here are 3 ways you can face your fear through the written word.

Face your Fear through Writing:

A Gratitude Journal

Take a moment every day to think about and journal out things you are grateful for…no matter what the current circumstances. Focus on the miracles that are happening in your life and the good things you are seeing around you. Whatever you focus on will expand; so if you dwell on the negative and the possibility of catastrophe, it will only paralyze you and increase your fear. If you focus on the positive and the good things in life, they will expand!

Send a Letter

Take a moment to write someone a letter or even just fill out a small notecard spreading some encouragement to someone else. It doesn’t have to be several pages long, just enough to let them know you are thinking about them. By spreading love, we can combat the hopelessness and fear that is trying to take hold.

Write Out Your Plan

The Bible tells us in Habakkuk 2 to write out our vision or plan for moving forward; and make it plain. This way other people know how they can come alongside us and help us. So instead of staying stuck in fear and paranoia, ask God for a solution and begin to write it down. What you are going to do. Who you are going to talk to. What you are going to learn and how you are going to learn it. You don’t need to have the full plan in place; but at least a starting point…that will help you not only face your fear, but actually start to kick fear in the face!

The reality is, out of every chaotic situation, great things arise! New businesses, new ideas, new relationships, and new leaders. You can arise from this situation victorious…as long as you strategically face your fear and use the power that resides in the words you read, speak, and write! Take a deep breath and start making a difference with your words.
